Making Waves to Discover Your Progress

With the economy in turmoil and the normal rollercoaster ride businesses often take, it is easy to get discouraged. The end of the year makes for a great time to recap your progress and take note of the accomplishments you have made so far. Focus on your progress and you may discover highlights that can give you a boost to start the New Year right.

While recapping your business year, consider all of the following waves made during the year that show true business progress:

  • Any new contacts you’ve made and prospective clients you’ve gained.
  • Any additions to your email or mailing lists.
  • Any new clients or projects you landed or completed.
  • Any awards or recognition you received.
  • Any courses or workshops you completed.
  • Any volunteer projects you took on.
  • Any launch of a new website or marketing campaign.
  • Any trade shows or marketing events you participated in or attended.
  • Any new business ideas you researched or developed.
  • Any industry or networking events you attended.
  • Any newsworthy press releases you published.
  • Any groups or organizations you joined to increase your exposure.
  • Any feedback or testimonials you received from satisfied clients.
  • Any business or marketing plans you developed.
  • Any positive results from your promotions or advertisements.

While this may not have been your most profitable business year, this exercise will help you see the progress you have made and give you the inspiration to keep moving in 2010.

If you can't remember how far you have come, make sure to keep track of every accomplishment you make in the future.  Keep a business journal to record every new and exciting development with your business or organization.

Take Steps in the
Right Direction

is a series of little accomplishments. To achieve maximum success you must accept that progress is made one step at a time"
