Be a Winner: Hold a Contest!
Create a win-win situation by holding a contest or drawing to promote your business or cause. Your prospects win a chance at a prize and your business or organization wins even more. A little competition can work to help you:
- Create awareness of your business or organization
- Get publicity
- Increase traffic to your website
- Collect information on prospects
- Boost your brand image
- Promote your cause, products or services
- Create news and content for your web site or publications
People love to win just about anything and would be open to your marketing message and be willing to give up valuable information for a chance at a prize. The prize could be a “sample” of your products or services or something else that your target audience may want or need.
Promoting your contests is key to its success. You can send out a press release, place free ads on contest promotion sites and event announcement sites, announce the contest in blogs
that attract your target audience, place inexpensive small print advertisements in local newspapers, send out emails to family and friends to pass on to others, or produce and distribute flyers or postcards.
Create your own criteria for the winning entry. Set your rules based on what you need from your prospects and what you want to accomplish. Keep it fun and interesting. Require contestants to complete a form on your web site to enter. Collect their name, address, telephone number, email address and any other valuable information you can use in the future. Select your winner and award the prize.
Now, take your winnings – the new contacts from entries – and add them your prospects lists. Finally, follow up with those new prospects to promote your cause, products and services.

Featured Project:
Introducing an Angel
Relax and Rejoice Concierge and Errand Services (R&R) is seeking to be an angel for clients in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. Offering a wide range of services designed to alleviate the stress of time-consuming tasks and give their clients the heavenly gift of more R&R, the newly established business is on the move.
The owner of R&R, Tosha Nevels-Fleming, contacted Pure Talent Graphic Design to create her brand image and the marketing materials she needed to get her business off the ground and set it up to reach its growth potential. Pure Talent began with the concept of an angel and designed the company’s logo to reflect a relaxing gift from heaven. The cloud logo is coupled with a relaxing heavenly atmosphere and an angel that works to handle the day-to-day tasks and free up clients for more rest and relaxation. The company brand was applied to R&R’s business card, stationery, website, signs, a brochure and even the grand-opening cake.
